Jennifer Lopez confirmed to Latina magazine this past weekend that she and a fellow Latina, Bronx-raised artist named Belcalis Almanzar – aka Cardi B – would be delivering a new song and music video sometime this year.
Rumors of the two whipping up a track together have been floating around since the beginning of the year, but it wasn’t until now that Lopez confirmed the song’s existence. It’s called “Dinero,” which appropriately summarizes what the two ladies are gonna be rolling in after its anticipated release.
We’re always on board for a good, true-to-roots collab, and there’s something pleasantly genuine about the two women working together. Both dealt with financial instability while spending their childhoods in The Bronx, and yet they managed to hustle through that oppression despite being first-generation Latina-Americans.
And since J. Lo has basically dominated the entertainment industry over the past 20-something years through numerous artistic and entrepreneurial endeavors, maybe this new alliance means that Cardi B’s superstar presence will grow to become equally pervasive by the time she’s Lopez’s age.
